Post Modernist Graphic Design
This is a great example of post modernist graphic design, it;s an eclectic mix of juxtaposing collages that aren't understandable one bit. It has a hand made aesthetic quality to it which is easily noticeable through overlapping poorly scanned images it's a very good example of a post modern poster.
This again uses a mix of scans, images and colours to create a collage. This is distinctively post modernist because of the randomness, over the top colours and the fact it doesn't follow any form really. There are several different fonts used in this poster that don't fit or work together some serifs and some san serifs, also the different pt sizes in '1984' don't follow the modernist attitude.
This is a post modern piece of design because sections the title are missing or covered up which is impractical meaning function follows form, it is more aesthetics focused rather than being accessible and practical. The front cover doesn't focus on what the book is about more on images making it unsuccessful in my opinion because it doesn't instantly tell you what it is about with ease and just seems to be a mess of images and patterns that don't seem to be relative.
This magazine cover has an array of colours that have been layered on top of a black and white photograph, this gives the cover a hand made, DIY aesthetic to it. By bringing the torn edges around the eyes into the equation and the typography that follows no form you get a distinct piece of post modernist graphic design typical of this period that has been created out of the punk era.
